1.  Happy Fall!!  My favorite time of the year :)

2.  We have been working hard to learn our numbers to 20!

3.  This week was apple week!  We tried a red, yellow, and green apple and then graphed our class favorite!

4. We found a little red house, with no doors or windows, and a little star inside ;)  The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever.  They wanted to know how I knew it was in there :)

5.  We celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday!!  All of the teachers dressed up as Johnny Appleseed for the day!

We also made applesauce! Yum!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!! :)

Classroom Tour!!!

Ok....I know....I am SUUUUPER late to this linky party!  Like beyond late.  But it's still open, so they party isn't over yet, right?! :)  I'm linking up with Ashley at Flying High in First Grade for her classroom tour party!

Here we go!!

This is the view from the back of my classroom!

From the front!

I'm going to start from  the door and take you around from there :)

Here we have my lunch count clip board hanging on the left.  The kids put their clips on hot or cold lunch every morning.  To the right of that is where I hang our "Stars of the Week." {This was from the very beginning so there's only one!}  Then there is our behavior clip chart and a "how we get home" chart. :)

This is where I keep my math games by strategy {in the baskets - not yet labeled :)} and reading anthologies.

Under that, the kids each have a basket where they keep their lunch boxes and toys.

Next up are the cabinets above the sink.  This is where I keep all of our markers, scissors, glue, colored pencils....all that fun stuff!

Our reading table :)

A closer look at the back wall....the kids' mailboxes and our friendship wall...and Goldy, our class goldfish :)

Here is our meeting and calendar area :)
{Look at the date....SEE, I was planning on doing this a looooong time ago!!!}

Our birthday wall is on the door, followed by my craft drawers!

Next up is our computer.  I'm hoping to use this for one of my centers when it is up and running.

These are my shelves for reading groups.  I keep everything I need here...highlighters, wiggle eye readers, marker boards, our blending buddies  and high frequency words.

This is our word word area.  The kids have lots of different things to choose from here.  The heater is magnetic so the can do all kinds of magnetic spelling :)

Our library!!! My next project is to organize the books in bins.  First, I need to find some good bins for it!

This is the front of the room, looking in from the door.  Still loving my blue wall!!! :)

Ok, we're almost all the way around!!!

We are bucket fillers!!! The kids all have their own cups to fill....and they have filled them quite a few times!

This area is where the kids can switch their pencils for a sharp one.  Underneath is where I organize my plans for the week.

Here's my desk!  {This was in the morning....by the afternoon, it doesn't usually look like that!}

This is where I keep all my reading, math, and activity books.  My wheely cart is there too.  It has all my teacher supplies.  I love it and think I need one for home :)  Mr. Froggy sits on our classroom jobs!

Behind my desk we have our anchor charts....

And our word wall!

That's our classroom!  Thanks for taking the tour! :)

Seasons of an Apple Tree!!

Fall is my favorite time of the year!  I wanted to share one of my FAVORITE fall projects with you!!  I started it last week {I couldn't wait!!!} :)

The Seasons of an Apple Tree!!

It goes along with the story The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons.

It's really pretty easy to make, but there are a lot of steps, so it takes some time!  I just realized I forgot the glue the cotton balls on for the snow in the winter picture!  So, just imagine it's there :)

The kids always ooo and ahhh when I pull out my sample!  I'm hoping to finish tomorrow so I can share the finished projects with you! :)

You can get the apple-y craft in my TpT Store: Seasons of an Apple Tree :)  {P.S. It's on SALE tonight!!!}

Happy Fall!!!

Five for Friday!

This has been one BUSY week!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs to share my Five for Friday! :)

1.  My Eno board is.......WORKING!!  Woohoo!!!  It was all set up on Thursday and I am in love with it.  Really.  It's my new favorite thing.  And the kids love it too! :)  I've been using it for so many things.  We practiced our spelling words on it.  For handwriting, I pulled up a page with the dotted lines and didn't have to draw my own.  Before we went to the computer lab, I showed the kids exactly what to do before we even got there.  We made a thinking map on it.  I pulled up some Cuisenaire Rods and we practiced our facts of ten.  It's so easy to change the color of the pen, which the kids thought was the best thing!  I know there's so many more things it can do that I just haven't figured out yet!  But I already think it's ahhhh-mazing!!!  :)

These are our short a word families.
My little smarties :)

2.  We finished making our little people and I put up our bulletin board!  I'm so happy with how it came out!!

3.  We had Curriculum Night on Thursday.  The kids made bookmarks for their parents....but I forgot to take pictures......and I was going to put the template up for you.....but they are on my school computer. *sad face*  My brain is toast!  But I DO have pictures of my hallway display :)  Elmer {of course!} and at the end are our apple patterns!

We also had our milk carton Elmers on display!

4.  We've been working lots on writing our numbers, especially those tricky teens!  Today we started by counting to 9.  I wrote some numbers backwards {oops!!} to make sure they were really paying attention. ;)  When we got to 10, I told them I was using my "Super Secret Color Code" to write the two digit numbers, but that I couldn't tell them what the code was {it IS a secret code, after all!}  They thought it was the funniest thing ever!  After we did 10, 11, 12, I asked who thought they had figured out the "Super Secret Color Code" and could write the next number for me.  It was so cute how excited they got for it!!  They looked like they would burst from trying to hold in the secret code! :)  Once we got to 20, I had them tell a neighbor if they had figured out the secret.

Can YOU figure out the code?!

After we cracked the code, the kids wrote numbers 10-20 on sentence strips, using the secret code of course!!!!  You can see all their ones are all the same color...I think they got it! :)

5.   My last random thing is just a silly story for you :)  We were talking about the -ack word family earlier this week.  The kids were naming all the -ack words they could think of.  One said "quack" so I was telling them about Q and U and how they were married and if you see a Q, then U will always be there.  Then today, one little girl called me over and whispered, "I have something to tell you!"  She pointed to a U in her name and said, "Q and U broke up!!" with this super surprised look on her face.  {SO we did a little review lol} How CUTE is that?!  :)

Enjoy the weekend!!!!!
