Weekend Warriors: I {heart} January!

Hello my sweet friends!
The Weekend Warriors are back! :)

This month we're bringing you ideas for Valentine's Day.

I love celebrating Valentine's Day with my kiddos.
I just love the sweet little notes they make each other!

First up, I have my favorite Valentine project ever.

And my favorite Valentine's book ever.

It's about a little monster who isn't cute and cuddly like the others.
(really though, he totally is!)
He can't find a monster like him.
He searches high and low, but can't find one.
Can you guess how it ends?!
It's super cute and the kids love it!

Then I have the kids make their own cute little monsters!!!
We brainstorm words that could describe them.
And away we go with our writing!

These are some of the projects from last year!

Next I have these adorable little cards.

They're really cute and really easy to make!
Add you need to do is cut heart-shaped paper.
Use a small piece of tape to attach it to your card.
Then use a q-tip/paintbrush/finger and paint to dot around the edges of the heart.
Let the paint dry and take off the heart shape.
Viola!

I also have a little Valentine's Class Book FREEBIE for you!

Stop by the rest of the Warriors' pages for more Valentine's ideas! :)

Classroom Organization!

Do you love organizing?!
I do!!!!
I'm joining Primary Powers for an Organization Blog Hop! :)

Our school recently began using Reading A to Z.
If you've ever used it before, you know it's a LOT  to manage.
I was overwhelmed at first, but now I'm an A to Z master! :)

I thought I'd share some of the things that have worked for me!
If you don't use A to Z, these tips could work for your leveled reading groups too.

The books.
So many books.

I copy each level on a different color paper to make it SUPER easy to find the books I'm looking for.
It also makes grading the pages so easy!

I have a basket for the week we're working on and the next week.
I try to stay a week ahead!

The groups.
So many groups.

I took a manila folder and used some cute washi tape to make boxes for each level.
Then I wrote the kids' names on colored sticky notes.
(I covered the names, but they're there!)
I based the sticky note color on where they were when we started using A to Z.
Look how far they've moved!!!

My little readers.
They make me so happy!

So I just look at my handy little folder, call the kids, pick the right color from my bins and we're good to go!

I also have this little binder to keep all my scores in!

Guess what?!
I have a little freebie for you to help you get organized too!

Five for Friday! {January 23}

It feels like it's been forever since I blogged!
I missed you all! :)

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday.

We made these ADORABLE little catch a snowflake kids!
Aren't they the cutest?!
You can grab the freebie from A Year of Many Firsts!

He is one of my FAVORITE things to teach!
My kids have been spotting him in words everywhere.
It makes me so happy!

I made the BEST gluten-free/dairy-free mac and cheese EVER.
Since I found out I can't eat either, I've been searching for something....anything that resembles mac and cheese.
Holy macaroni!
I found it!  It was delicious! :)
Does it make you hungry? ;)

My kiddos made these adorable little penguins.
They went all out with accessories!
And have you ever seen a beard penguin?! :)

I celebrated 8 years with this handsome guy.
I love him so much! :)

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Mini Word Books {freebie!}

Are you all enjoying being back from vacation?!

We've been working really hard to learn our Dolch Words.
I made these fun little books to help make learning them a little more exciting. :)

I've used a few different ways to mark off the word my kiddos know.
Sometimes I use stickers.

Sometimes I have the kids stamp their fingerprint.
{so fun!!!!!}
I also have them color the picture at the bottom when they know all the words on the page.

Sometimes I just check it off with a marker!
It depends on the day and the kid! :)

I have these little books for you...they're a freebie!
There's a book for pre-primer, primer, and Dolch 1, 2, and 3.
They come in color and black and white.
I hope you can use them!!!

Just click below to grab them!!!

Have a fabulous week!
