Kites!

I mentioned these kites a few weeks ago in a Five for Friday post.
We finished them and they look AMAZING!
My friend Jenn shared this idea and I just have to share with you!

All you need is a kite pattern, tissue paper, and string.
Easy peasy!
If you don't have a kite and bow pattern, I have one for you!
{Click here} to get the stencil!

Just copy the kites on card stock.
Cut squares of tissue paper.
We talked about all the patterns we could make on our kites.
Then go for it!

All you do is lay the tissue paper on and use a paintbrush to dab it with a little water.
Let it dry {it doesn't take too long!}
The tissue paper falls right off and you have a beautiful kite!

The kids LOVED it!

I had my kids write a fact family on the bows.
My friend who shared them had her class write adjectives.

Last year I did a similar project.
The kids chose a number and wrote it on their kite.
On the bows, they wrote all kinds of facts that equaled the number on the kite.

I'm sure you could think of something that fits with what you are working on too!

Here are the completed projects!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

  2. LOVE these kites!! We will do contractions on kites soon (where the contractions are the bows) and the tissue paper "tie dye" idea will be super fun for the kite part! So great!
