Super Writer Journals (daily writing prompts for the year!)

Hi friends!
I'm super excited to share these journals with you!

I like to have my kids write every day.
I found myself ALWAYS trying to think of a topic!
A few summers ago, I created these Super Writer Journals...a journal for each month with a daily prompt all ready to go!

The kids LOVE them!
It gets them excited about writing.
It makes me so happy!

You can mix and match the prompts, ordering them however you want for each month.

There are all kinds of options!
For some, the kids choose between two things.

There are how-to's.

Some have questions for the kids to answer.

Others give a title and the kids have to be creative!

There are also informational pieces, free write pages, and weekend writes.
I always start by modeling the prompt.
The kids love seeing what I write and it gets them more excited about it too!

Make writing easier with these monthly Super Writer Journals!

Happy Writing (and weekend)!!!

Best YouTube Channels for Early Learners!

We do lots of singing and dancing in my classroom.
It makes learning so much more fun!
These are some of my favorite YouTube channels to help keep my kiddos engaged and learning.

Jack Hartmann is my favorite YouTube channels of all time.
There are all kinds of counting and rhyming songs, brain breaks, and holiday songs.
You name it, there's a song for it!
Our favorite is Let's Get Fit (Count to 100).
I think we did it just about every day last year!

Harry Kindergarten Music has so many fun math, character education, and science songs.
We love the Doubles Rap and sight word songs best.

Have Fun Teaching is a great channel for alphabet practice, counting, and science.
The Verb Rap is super fun!  We also love the Counting Down from 20 song.

The Learning Station has lots of catchy brain breaks.
We all know that sometimes the kids just need a break!  We love Shake Your Sillies Out!

Alphablocks is great for introducing or reviewing phonics skills.
My kids always love them!
There are tons of letter sound videos, but I use it most when I teach vowel teams.

Pancake Manor is perfect for nursery rhymes, math songs, and brain breaks.
We really like Shake Break!

Scratch Garden has great reading and math songs.
Our favorite is The Long & Short Vowels Song.

Heidi Songs has so many fun and engaging songs!
There are songs for colors, letters, math, and sight words.

These YouTube channels are fun AND educational!
The songs are so catchy.  The kids quickly remember them and sing along.
They're always begging for more!

What are your favorite channels?
I'd love to add them to my list!

Spooky Little Ghost Letters!

Teaching silent letters can be so much fun!
In my classroom, we call these letters ghost letters!
It really helps the kids learn the sounds.

To begin, we make a list of all the words we can think of!
At first, the kids will usually give words that just start with n or r, instead of words with kn or wr.
But they quickly get the hang of it!

Sometimes I even draw ghosts around the letters on the board or in their books.
I LOVE when they even draw them on words they find! :)

We sort words and highlight those spooky little letters.

We play games to practice reading words with ghost letters.

This Roll & Read helps build fluency AND practices those words.

The kids always love this fun little book.
They read a ghost letter word.
Read a sentence with that word.
Then create their own sentence.
They get pretty creative with these!

Then we end with a fun little mini craft. :)
As a class, we brainstorm words with kn, wr, mb, and gn.
They we add them to our own spooky little ghosts.

They'll remember those ghost letter forever!!!

Happy March!

Hello Friends!
Can you believe it's March already?!

I got the best thing for Christmas.
A Cricut machine!!!
Have you used one?
They're amazing!

I wanted to share some of the fun things I've made with it!
I've been vinyling everything!!

I found these little bowling pins at the Dollar Tree.
I wish they had more than one set because I can think of so many other bowling ideas!

I made these ones into Sight Word Bowling!
I did all those tricky w words that my kids always get mixed up. :)
They're going to LOVE practicing them now!!!

I've seen this idea many times on Pinterest.
I don't know who came up with the original idea, but I like it!

I got this little push light at the Dollar Tree too.
I'll be using it when I'm taking reading groups!
When the light's on, ask a friend for help.
Just a friendly little reminder not to interrupt. :)

My last project is for above my desk at home.
I added some scrapbook paper in the frame and used the Cricut to cut the vinyl lettering.
Aren't they so pretty?!

I have a lot more project ideas already!!!
Do you have a Cricut?  What have you made with it?!

Are you snowed in like me?!
Here's a quick and easy little bookmark for Valentine's Day!

I included two colored verions - a girly one and one that's a little more boyish. :)

You could have your kids color and make their own bookmarks for someone they love.

Oooor  you could save ink and print on colored paper!

So many options! :)
I hope you love them!
Happy early Valentine's Day!!!

Thank You Donors Choose!

If you haven't used before, I totally recommend it!
If you don't know what it is, go check it out!

It's a place teachers can go to submit things they need for their classrooms.
iPads, listening centers, books, supplies...and so much more!
You type up a little explanation about how the item(s) would benefit your class.
Then people (totally awesome people) can donate towards your project.

Look what we just got for our classroom!!!

A brand new number grid carpet!
Isn't it beautiful?!?!
If only you could have seen the kids faces when they saw it. <3

Not only is it the perfect size for our class meetings,
but it makes math a MILLION times more fun!

We've been playing all kinds of games on it.
Skip counting, adding, place value practice.
It's even become our latest math center.
Giant Race to 120?

It's the greatest carpet ever!

So thank you for making math waaaaay more fun!
