Reading Spaceships!

I have the cutest idea to share with you!!!!!
A few weeks ago, we started using Reading Spaceships.
Oh. My. Goodness.
First of all, they're the cutest things ever.
AND they make reading SO MUCH FUN!

I got the idea from my friend Alyssa from Soar Into Teaching.
Look how cute hers are!!!!!!

She has a space theme in her room, so her kiddos are soaring into learning.
My classroom theme is superheroes, so ours is a superhero spaceship.
I think you could make it work for any theme!!!

I REALLY love her 4 rules for riding in the spaceship.

The most important one is that when you're in the spaceship,
no one can hear you and you can't hear them.
I made a pretty big deal about that. ;)

When I introduced them into my room, I had one of the kids model how it worked.
He modeled it perfectly!
When he got out, he said, "I really couldn't hear any of you!"
It was the cutest thing ever!

The kids were SO excited.
They said they were going to Planet Read and Planet Book.
I love them so much. :)

I keep our spaceship in our Read to Self center.
The kids take turns using it.

They're so focused when they're in it!!!!
I love watching them read!
It makes my teacher heart happy. :)

When it's time to land, I pretend to type on an invisible keyboard and make beep beep beep noises,
you know, since they can't hear me when they're up in space. ;)
They looooooove it!!!

Thanks for the amazing idea Alyssa!!!
Have a happy week my friends!!!

St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Are your kiddos super excited about St. Patrick's Day?!
Mine are!
We have our traps all ready to set up tomorrow.
I just love how excited the kids get!

I have a few little freebies to share with you.
I hope they help keep your kiddos engaged and learning, while still having fun this week. :)

This one's a little class book about why you're lucky.
(I think they're lucky to have a teacher like you!!!!)

My kids LOVE this little addition game.
Which leprechaun can make it to the gold first?!

Skip counting is super fun when you do it with shamrocks and leprechauns!

I hope you can use some of them! :)

These are some of my other favorite activities!

We made these little leprechauns today.
Then wrote about how to catch one!
I love how they all come out so different!

You might also like this math game!
The kids have to find the true and false addition facts.

My kids beg to play these leprechaun rolls!
They're great for practicing phonics skills.

Tomorrow we're doing Jennifer's leprechaun directed drawing!!!
I can't wait to see how adorable they come out!

And of COURSE we'll be graphing Lucky Charms!!

I hope you catch a leprechaun! ;)

Write Your Friends!

Happy Friday!!!
My kiddos are a SUPER huge fan of Scoot and Write the Room.
It's probably their favorite thing ever.
I thought I would change it up a bit today!

Instead of Write the Room, we played Write Your Friends!
It was HUGE hit! :)

It wasn't anything fancy and it was super easy to get ready!
We made a headband out of a sentence strip.
Then attached a flashcard with a paperclip!

The kids walked around the room writing the answer to their friends' facts.
At first it was a little crazy.
There were three or four kids in a circle trying to write the answers before the others sped away.
We froze for a minute before things got TOO chaotic. ;)
I asked them to tap the friend they needed and each answer each other's fact before moving. Everything ran smoothly after that!

It was a quick and fun way to practice math facts!

We're going to play again soon!
I had the kids save their headbands in their folders so we can play again.
The paperclips make it easy to change the cards!

I made an editable page for you in case you want to try!
You could do it with addition, subtraction, multiplication....anything!
You could even do different colored math facts to differentiate.
Just add your kids' names and you're good to go. :)

Enjoy the weekend!
