Weekend Warriors: Favorite EOY Activities!

It's the end of the month...
That means it's time for another round of Weekend Warriors!
Don't forget that you can link up with us!

The end of the year is quickly coming and these are some of my favorite things to do during the last month of school.

I just love these little suns.
They're so fun to make AND they're super summery. :)

I make this every year for my kids.
I'm sure you've seen it on Pinterest too! :)

This little beach ball has been my end of year gift for the last few years.
The kids each get one.
We sit in a big circle and pass the balls around, so everyone gets to sign each ball.
The kids LOVE it!
(You can grab the tag's a freebie!)

Link up and share your favorite end of the year activities too!

Chicks, Chicks, and More Chicks!

We just finished up our life cycle of a chicken unit!
Life cycles are my FAVORITE thing to teach!!!

We obviously had to hatch chicks to witness the life cycle first hand. ;)
Seriously, how cute are they?!

Our first grade team hatched 18 chicks!
The kids had SO much fun with them!
We had four in our room.
Their names were Peanut Butter, Jelly, Lollipop, and Lilly.

To go along with our chick unit, we made these cute little chickens.
They are part of my Chicken Life Cycle pack. :)

Since we have been working on exclamations, the kids each wrote an exclamation about chicks.

I was super sad this year because all four of the chicks hatched early Monday morning, so the kids didn't get to see it. :(

I had a video on one hatching last year, but it's just not the same!

We also made these hatching little chickies!

If you're hatching chicks this year (or next), you might like this little chick countdown!
It's a freebie! :)

Have a happy Friday!!!

Mother's Day Gifts!

Mother's Day is right around the corner!
These are the adorable gifts we make for our moms!

Some years I use spider plants and other years we have planted seeds.
Last year I even bought some pretty flowers to plant because our seeds hadn't come up yet!!!

When I do spider plants, we always start by putting the spider babies in a cup of water.
This way the kids can watch the roots begin to grow!

Once we see the roots, we plant!

The kids are always so proud of their plants for mom!!

This is the fun part!!!
We paint our hands to make a handprint butterfly.
It adds a whole lot of color and prettiness to our gifts!

Here's what they look like when they're done!
(without eyes anyway, ha!)
We add popsicle sticks to the back so they can stand (or fly!) in the dirt.
The kids twist together two pipe cleaners for the antennae.
That parts a little tricky ;)

We also add a little poem to the plant.
Here's everything ready to go!

Don't the look so pretty!?!?!?

Here's a close up!!!

We wrap them up with tissue paper and add some ribbon.

I just love how bright and colorful they are!!!

We also make these sweet little poems for mom.

I love these little book by A Year of Many Firsts too!

What do you make for your moms? :)
