Classroom Tour 2015!

My classroom is ALL ready for the first day tomorrow!
I'm so excited to share it with you!!!!!!!

I'll start from the hallway and walk you around! :)
My theme this year is SUPERHEROES!!!
I'm so super excited about it!
I hope my kiddos love it as much as I do. :)

Here's my bulletin board out in the hall.

Superheroes in Training!
(Sorry about that glare!)

Now let's step inside! ;)

My Superhero of the Week is right inside the door.
This is probably my favorite thing about my room!!!
Every Friday I'm going to choose one or two kiddos to be the Superhero of the Week.
They'll get to wear a cape AND mask.
Plus, they'll get their picture in one of those frames!

Next to that are my behavior and dismissal charts!

This is where the kids hang their bags.
The baskets are for their lunch boxes.
The top bins are for math games!

Looking at the back of the classroom!

Behind the curtains.....
Supply storage!

First grade is....

I'm IN LOVE with these superhero rules!!!! :)

I'm also in love with my fish tank!
I taped the superheroes to the back.
So now he's SUPER FISHY!!!

Next up is my birthday display!

These shelves have my leveled library on top.
Underneath is my teacher library!!!
I organized all my books by theme this year!!

This area is for Word Work.

a superhero, of course!!! :)

The kids' book boxes!
Don't they look so pretty?!?!

These bins are where I keep my games and center activities.
The first set of drawers is by month.
The second is organized by our reading series units.
The clear drawers are where I keep my teacher supplies. :)
Pretend you can't see the mess in the pink drawers ;)
That's where I keep my crafting supplies!

Next up are all my binders!
This is where I keep EVERYTHING!!!!!

My desk. :)
Looking pretty clean!!!
Just wait until school starts, haha!

Here's the view looking at the front of the room.
I still love my blue wall. :)

This is another one of my favorite areas!
My classroom library and listening center!

Here's a close up of my word wall.
On the left are my kids' sight word books.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!!!!!!
I can't wait for my kiddos to get settled in tomorrow!!!!!

My friend Melissa over at Smile for Success made them!
She's new to the blogging world.
You will LOVE her ideas......soooo you should totally go check out her blog. :)

They're just so bright and colorful!

Here's the back.

SO CUTE!!!!!
They're super easy to put together too.
Just print and laminate.
Then I folded them and taped the bottom.
Easy peasy!

I put a little single serve Kool-Aid packet inside.

They're all ready for my kids tomorrow. :)
I hope it makes them less jittery on the first day!!!!

Sneak Peek!!

I can't wait to show you my classroom!
I've been working so hard to get it ready for my new bunch of kiddos.
I still have a few finishing touches to add...
But I'm so excited about it, I wanted to give you a sneak peek!!!

I decided to change my theme this year, so I've been re-doing EVERYTHING.
Man oh MAN is was a lot of work.
But it was totally worth it!

These cuties are going up on my door.
They just make me smile!

I re-did all my labels.
ALL of them.
Holy labels.
I didn't realize I had so many....
until I had to cut them out!
It only took about 6 hours.
My hand still hurts.

(Isn't my little assistant cute?!)

I went with bright neon colors and...
can you guess what else?

My new alphabet makes me happy! :)

I even organized my teacher books.
I've been wanting to do that FOREVER.
(Now if only I could get the kids' library done too!)

Are you as excited as me?!
Next week I'll have a FULL classroom tour for you!
I. Can't. Wait!

Do something fun this weekend!!!!

When Hairy Met Tallie {giveaway!!}

I have the cutest book to tell you about today!!
If you haven't read it yet, you HAVE to!!!
It's called When Hairy Met Tallie by Stacie Carroll.

When Hairy Met Tallie is a true story about a little girl who doesn't feel like she fits in.
Tallie's mom is the author, which I think is amazing!
It's a book about kindness, love, and accepting others for who they are.
Every kid (and adult) should read it!!
I'll give you a quick summary, but you need, need, need to read it! :)
It's a rhyming book too...
which I totally love!
I love when the kids say "it rhymes!!" in the middle of a story.
It makes my heart happy! :)

Tallie is a little girl who is different than the kids in her class.
She's often sad and lonely.
One day, her mom picked her up from school with a life size skeleton in the car.

Hairy is made of lots of bones.
In his chest he has a big heart.
Even though Hairy and Tallie look different on the inside, they're the same on the inside.

With Hairy's help, Tallie gains confidence and learns about kindness, love, and friendship.
It's a really touching story!
Hairy teaches kids that we ARE all the same on the inside.

I can't wait to read it to my kiddos when school starts!
I even bought my own Hairy to go along with the story! :)
See his little heart?!

Isn't he cute?!
(He thinks you should read his story! ;) )

Guess what?!

Blending Robot!

I went into my classroom today!
There's sooooo much to do!

I wanted to share these little blending robots with you before I forget about them. :)
They are similar to the Blending Buddies I've blogged about before.
But they're more fun!
At least I think so. ;)

Here are a few of them!
I made 4 different robots.
In case your kiddos are picky about robots.
Hopefully they like one of them.

So say one of your kiddos gets stuck on a word.
Or you give them a word to break up into sounds.
Grab a robot.
Eve is my favorite.
Although Weebo is awfully cute too!

Touch the first gear and say the sound.
Touch the second gear and say the sound.
Touch the third gear and say the sound.
Then go back to the beginning.
Run your finger along all three gears and blend the sounds together!

If you're feeling really crazy, you can even sound them out like a robot.
I think your kids will love them.
I think you will too. :)

You can grab them {HERE!}
They're a freebie!!!

Happy blending!!

Back to School Gifts!

Every year I try to think of something to give my kids at Meet & Greet to get them excited about first grade!
They're always so shy and nervous when they first come in.
(I know how they feel!!!)
I want them to know they have lots of fun to look forward to!

These are just a few of the gifts I've given over the last few years. :)

First up are these cute little bookmarks!
They're super easy to make.
Plus they're free!
I just printed, laminated, and added some ribbon.
You can see how to make the melted crayons {HERE!}

These ones I added glow bracelets to.
Who doesn't love glow bracelets?!
They were only 5 for $1 at Walmart!

Another one with a melted crayon. :)
Or you could do glow sticks.
Or pencils.
Or anything you can think of!

These sunglasses were a big hit!
I gave them out as end of the year gifts this year.
But they work for back to school too!

Here's what I'm giving out this year!
They're my favorite so far.
I hope new kiddos like them. :)
(The tags are a freebie!)

Do you give out back to school goodies?
Tell me about them in the comments!
