A Day in the Life!

Tomorrow my 100 Follower Giveaway {Celebration!!!} will start!!  I know, you can't wait :)  Neither can I!!!!

I'm linking up with Jessica at Second Grade Nest for her Day in the Life of a Teacher linky party!!

I usually get up early over the summer.  My bf goes to the gym before work, so when he gets up, so do I!  I'm a morning person!!! :)

I start my day in COFFEE and some work.  And usually a blog post :)  Yesterday I was working on my 100 Follower Giveaway and my chevron supply and group tags to match my alphabet! {They will be in my TpT store this afternoon!}

Then I head outside to pick blueberries!!  We have so many I don't know what to do with all of them!  Our blackberries are finally starting ready to pick too.  Yummmmm :)   After that I fed the chickens, collected eggs, and cleaned the coop {yuck!}

My dad and stepmom found me an easel at a yard sale this weekend.  So I stopped by to pick it up!  I love it!!!  I also stopped at the farm and got some fresh corn and favorite!!

After that, I went to do some school shopping.  I tried to only get what I went for......:)  Hobby Lobby had strong magnets for my scrapbook paper magnets.  I also got glitter, so I can make MORE magnets. :)  The ribbon is perfect for those caddies I got at Walmart {for $.97!!!!!)  Annnnnd I got copies made at Staples.  Have you had colored copies made there?  They are expensive!!  The printer was giving me problems, so the nice lady there only charged me for half of what I printed.

I always eat my lunch outside with my little buddy.  That's right.  I had yogurt and corn.  Haha.  And yes, Moo IS drinking out of my cup.  Gross.  Who does he think he is?! #spoiled  I picked flowers to refill my vases.  I love having fresh flowers inside.  I also love those pink lillies.  They are my favorite!!!

Walk time!  Moo decided he didn't want to come.  Some days he does that.  I'll ask him if he wants to go, and he'll run upstairs and hide under the bed.  Crazy pup.  He doesn't like when it's hot!!!

Do you see that chair?  It was with someone's trash.  I thought, "Hmmm I have plenty of fabric left over to cover that....should I carry it home?  Is it too far?  Is that too weird?  Should I come back and get it?  Should I wait until it's dark?"   I texted my bf a picture.  He said, "You don't need that!"  But I drove over and got it ;)  It's perfect for my reading table!!

After I got my new chair, I did yoga.  Snickers loves yoga.  Or maybe my yoga mat.  He does this everyday.  I always have to work around him!

Next I made dinner.  We had a bean taco salad.  All those tomatoes are from the garden!  It's the first year we've done tomatoes and they are so many of them!!  I also made "healthy" cookies for dessert.  All that's in them is banana, oatmeal, and peanut butter.  So good!  I usually do chocolate chips instead of PB but we didn't have any!

After dinner is craft time!  I laminated my chevron alphabet and group tags.  Then I decorated my table caddies.  See, isn't the ribbon perfect?!  It matches the tags perfectly!!  I added magnets to by glass marbles.  These magnets were so strong, I had to lay them far apart because they kept attaching to each other!!

Then it was time to relax.  Do any of you have the gel polish?  It's ahhh-mazing!  It never chips!  My bf and I have started watching Under the Dome.  We like it so far!

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for my 100 Follower Giveaway.

I used a random number generator for my Pin It To Win It contest.  The winner is.............Happy to be in K-3. Check your email!! :)
Have a fabulous day!!  I'm off to reupholster my trash chair :)

{Magnet & Chair} Tutorials!

Before we get started, here's a little Pin It To Win It fun!  Hop over to my TpT store and pin my "Write" Back to School Pack and you could win it!  After you pin it, leave a comment telling me what your favorite back to school activity is!  Don't forget to leave your email address!  I will choose a winner tomorrow morning! :)

These tutorials are for my Monday Made Its!  You can see them in this post!

Magnet Tutorial

I'm sure you've seen magnets like this on Pinterest!  I was inspired to make my own!  These magnets are super easy to make and I love the way they came out!

You will need:
  • large glass marbles (with a flat back)
  • scrapbook paper
  • glue (I used E6000 & Mod Podge)
  • strong magnets
  • scissors
I had planned to do glitter magnets too, but I decided to get better colors before I start those :)
Also, I got the magnets in the picture from Michaels, but they weren't strong enough!

1.  Choose your paper!  This is the fun part!!!  I had a little scrapbook paper book that I got on clearance a few weeks ago that I've been dying to use!

2.  Trace a marble on your paper.  You will need to cut it smaller than what you traced, but this will give you a rough idea of the shape and size.  I cut one to start and found the size it needed to be, then used that piece to cut the others. {They need to be smaller so that it fits the flat side without sticking off the edge.}

3.  Once you have them cut, you can start gluing!  I used the E6000 glue for this part.  Spread the glue on the flat side of the marble {I found my finger worked best for this part}.

The directions on the glue say to wait two minutes before applying the paper.  Make sure you wait!  I didn't for the first few and found that it was harder to get the air bubbles out!  So, you have to be patient!!  Wait two minutes and them put your scrapbook paper face down onto the glue.  {I added glue to 5-6 marbles at a time. Then added paper and did another 5-6.}

4.  Let them dry!  I put Mod Podge on the back of the paper to protect it.

5.  When the Mod Podge is dry, use the E6000 glue to attach the magnets!  Try a few first to make sure the magnets you got are strong enough!  Mine first ones weren't so I had to get different ones :)

6.  Now you have some beautiful magnets for your classroom {or home!} :)

Chair Tutorial

You will need:
  • one old chair!
  • fabric {I needed two yards for mine}
  • pliers, screwdriver
  • staple gun
  • sandpaper & stain {optional!}
1.  First you'll need an old desk chair.  Unscrew the back, bottom, and arms.  {I started with the back first, then did the seat part when that was done.}

2. Mine has a back that was two separate pieces.  You'll need to take the staples out next.  You can see them all in this picture!!  There's a LOT!

I used a screw driver to lift up the staples and pliers to pull them out.

Once you have the staples out, you can take the old fabric off!

3.  Lay your fabric over the piece and cut it to size.  I used a spray glue to attach the fabric to the padding.  This kind only takes 30 seconds to dry so I didn't have to wait!

4.  Then staple the fabric on.  I pulled it pretty tight before stapling.

5.  Here's the finished back piece!

  Our kitties weren't happy when it was time to start working on the bottom piece ;)

6.  Take the staples out just like you did with the back.

My cushion was pretty flat, so I replaced it.  I used the same old chair cushion that I used to make my seat crates.  It was hard to cut!  It's not perfect, but good enough!

7.  Spray glue the fabric onto the cushion and staple away!!  I put the top part together right away because I couldn't wait to see how it looked {that's why it's on the table without arms!} :)

 Arms & Feet
8.  This part is only if you have wood arms and feet!  I sanded them down with an electric sander.

9.  Then I stained them!  I let it dry overnight.

10.  I added a clear coat and let it dry {I don't like waiting!!!}

11.  Put it all back together!

I hope these tutorials helped!!  Don't forget to Pin It To Win It!!

Monday Made It: Chair, Magnets, & More!

Happy Monday!  I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It {my favorite linky ever!!!} :)

I've been busy this week!  I love having so much time over the summer to work on my{huge} to do list!

#1. This week I finally got around to finishing up my desk chair!!!  You may remember I told you about the chair my boyfriend's grandmother gave me.  It looked like this! looks like this!!!! :)

What do you think?!  I reupholstered it, put a new cushion on the seat, and even sanded and stained the handles and feet!

#2.  I also made these magnets!  {Well, kind of!  The magnets I bought weren't strong enough, so they're READY to be magnets!  I just need to find some super strong magnets!}

#3.  I've been working a lot on my back to school stuff too.  You may remember that I will be in a new school this school year.  I haven't decided yet what I want my theme to be, so I've been making all kinds of different decor packs!  That way, when we're given the okay to get into the school, I'll have lots of options that will {hopefully} work ;)  But that means that you have lots of options too!!! :)

Here's my Colorful Chevron Alphabet.  So far, this one's my favorite!
I have a word wall to match in the works!

I also made it in black and white!

Here's the Black & White {Chevron} Word Wall that matches.  It comes with an editable PowerPoint so your words will match the letter headings.

Can you tell I'm indecisive?!  I also have Polka Dot  and Bright Alphabet & Word Wall Sets.  I'm leaning toward the Colorful Chevron, but I'm not 100% sure yet :)

Which reminds me, I also made those chevron backgrounds!!  They're my first digital papers and you can get them free at my TpT store!

#4.  The last thing I made was a back to school pack!  It includes craft {my favorite :)} and a few different writing activities, a word search, ABC order, and tags for pencils that say, "You're just 'write' for our class!"  Check it out!

Did I mention I love summer? :)
